A fabulous vintage signed LJM Christmas tree brooch, featuring a wonderfully architectural openwork design formed from layers of textured goldtone branches and fine radiating wirework. The tiered construction creates an almost harp-like or fan-shaped silhouette, giving the tree wonderful dimension rather than the flatter construction seen on many vintage holiday brooches.
Round rhinestones in ruby red, emerald green, blue and clear are scattered across the branches like tiny ornaments, with a brilliant blue rhinestone positioned prominently at the center. A clear rhinestone crowns the very top.
The reverse is signed LJM, a mark associated with Laurentian Jewellery Manufacturing of Montreal, Canada. Comparable signed examples of this distinctive wired Christmas tree design are generally attributed to the mid-century period. (Poshmark)
