Signed GROSSE, GERMANY and dated 1959.
GROSSE & CHRISTIAN DIOR
Henkel & Grosse was founded in Pforzheim, Germany, in 1907 and became one of Germany’s important manufacturers of high-quality costume jewelry. Most notably, the company entered into a partnership with Christian Dior in 1955, producing Dior costume jewelry under license. This relationship continued for decades, making Grosse particularly interesting to collectors of both German jewelry and vintage designer costume jewelry.
This 1959 example dates to the early years of Grosse’s association with Christian Dior, although this particular piece is signed GROSSE and is NOT a Dior piece. Its sophisticated construction and sculptural metalwork beautifully demonstrate the level of workmanship for which the company became known.
Measurements
Approximately 1.75” × 1.25”
Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear. Goldtone finish remains bright overall. Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the condition description.
❗️JEWELRY CASES, CHAINS AND ANY OTHER ITEMS SHOWN ARE FOR STAGING/DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE NOT INCLUDED UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THE LISTING.❗️
Questions are always welcome.
