Description
Beautiful vintage Dudson Hanley English Jasper Ware pitcher/jug in a striking deep cobalt blue with applied white classical relief decoration.
A continuous procession of classical dancing female figures encircles the body, their flowing gowns and joined hands creating a wonderful sense of movement. An elaborate white foliate border surrounds the upper portion, complemented by the contrasting white handle, rim and foot.
The rich cobalt ground is particularly striking and gives this piece wonderful presence whether displayed alone or as part of a larger English jasperware collection.
The underside bears the printed Jasper Ware / Made in England / Since 1800 / Dudson Hanley backstamp.

Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, including surface marks and areas of discoloration to the white handle, rim, foot and interior.
Please note: When the jug is held or gently moved by the handle, an unusual sound can be heard. We have carefully examined the handle and do not see any visible cracks, breaks or separation. We are unable to determine the source of the sound and are disclosing it for complete transparency. Please review all photographs carefully before purchasing.
