Beautiful Toledo damascene brooch featuring an exceptionally detailed bird perched among flowering branches, leaves and scrolling botanical motifs. The design combines yellow and green gold against a dramatic blackened steel ground, creating the intricate contrast characteristic of traditional Toledo damascene work.
The original certification label states that this piece was made in Toledo, Spain, with 24K yellow gold and 18K green gold, with a minimum inlaid thickness of 4 microns. The accompanying original card describes the traditional damasquinado process of inlaying the gold into an impressed steel design before blackening the surrounding steel to highlight the decoration.
Finished with a textured goldtone border and trombone-style clasp.
Includes the original presentation card, label, informational tag shown.
