Striking vintage sterling silver Man in the Moon brooch, beautifully cast in high relief with an extraordinarily detailed male profile nestled within a dramatic crescent moon. The expressive face is surrounded by deeply modeled flowing hair and beard, while the upper portion features a wonderfully elaborate pointed headdress with geometric triangles, circles and linear decoration.
The oxidized recesses contrast beautifully against the polished silver highlights, emphasizing the sculptural quality of the design. Signed GFMW and marked Sterling, this is an unusual and highly decorative piece of celestial figural jewelry with wonderful character.
