An impressive vintage silverplate roll-top butter dish by F. B. Rogers Silver Co., crafted in silver on copper and elevated on wonderfully ornate figural lion-form feet. This is a particularly decorative example of the classic Victorian-style covered butter dish, with a dramatic ribbed roll-top cover, applied ornament and contrasting brass-tone rosette details.
The domed roll-top cover pivots open to reveal the removable pressed glass butter dish, decorated with an ornate floral and scrolling motif. The combination of silver on copper, architectural roll-top construction, elaborate feet and patterned glass gives this piece wonderful Old World table presence.
