A charming vintage English silver-plated wine taster (tastevin) featuring an authentic 1957 British Half Crown set into the center of the bowl. The coin displays the youthful portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the Royal Arms on the reverse, making this both a functional wine accessory and a unique piece of British history. Silver plate shows plating wear on edges around the coin, shoeing a line of copper metal.
Traditionally used by wine merchants and sommeliers to examine the color and clarity of wine, a tastevin is equally at home today as a distinctive bar accessory, display piece, or elegant catchall for rings and other small treasures.
The piece is marked Silver Plate – Made in England. The maker’s mark is present but has worn over time and is no longer legible. It shows light surface scratches and age-related wear consistent with careful vintage use while retaining a bright, attractive finish.
