Description
A magnificent example of Art Deco glamour and ingenious American costume jewelry design, this vintage signed Coro Duette brooch features two matching rhinestone dress clips that transform into one spectacular statement brooch.
Dating to the Art Deco era, circa 1930s–1940s, this beautifully crafted piece showcases intricate pierced silver-tone metalwork, elaborate geometric scrollwork, and an abundance of sparkling clear rhinestones.
The ornate design features numerous round rhinestones complemented by rectangular baguette-cut stones, creating a wonderfully dimensional appearance reminiscent of fine diamond jewelry of the period.
What makes this piece especially desirable is its original patented Coro Duette construction.
The two individual dress clips attach to a specially designed metal frame, allowing them to be worn together as one dramatic brooch or separately as two elegant dress clips.
This clever convertible design became particularly fashionable during the 1930s and 1940s, when versatility and glamour were essential elements of women’s jewelry.
Coro Duette History & Patents
Coro was one of America’s most influential costume jewelry manufacturers, celebrated for its imaginative designs and innovative jewelry construction.
The Duette was among its most recognizable creations, allowing two matching dress clips to be combined into one brooch.
The removable brooch frame is marked PAT. NO. 1798867, corresponding to U.S. Patent No. 1,798,867, granted March 31, 1931, to Gaston Candas.
The clip mechanisms also bear patent markings associated with the period’s spring-operated dress-clip construction.
These patented mechanisms represent a fascinating chapter in American costume jewelry history and make surviving Coro Duettes especially interesting to collectors.
This example retains its two matching dress clips and removable brooch frame.

• Overall brooch length: circa 2.75”
• Overall brooch width: circa 1.25”
