Handsome antique solid sterling silver belt buckle, beautifully monogrammed “P G L” in an Old English gothic script across the top bar. The design is clean and architectural, a simple rectangular frame with a gentle curve and double tongue prongs that give it an elegant late Victorian or Edwardian look. The buckle has a faint “Sterling” mark and a substantial feel in the hand, weighing approximately 54.4 grams.
Buckle measures about 3.5 inches wide by 3.15 inches high (9 cm x 8 cm). Opening is a large rectangular window ready to fit a leather or fabric strap of your choice. Surface shows light scratches and small marks from age and wear, as expected for an antique sterling piece. Silver has a soft, even patina; you can leave it as found for that authentic old money look or polish to a brighter shine if desired. Prongs move as they should and overall condition is very good for age. Please review all photos as they show the monogram, construction and condition from several angles.
This monogrammed sterling buckle is a wonderful unisex accessory, perfect for a custom belt, sash, riding or equestrian style outfit, or as part of a period costume. It would also make a thoughtful gift for someone whose initials match, or simply as a collectible piece of antique sterling silver to enjoy and display. Makes a wonderful shawl accessory, perfect for wools and tartans!!
