Antique Silver Morpho Butterfly Wing Brooch Peacock Feather 1.25” Round

A beautiful and unusual silver Morpho butterfly wing and peacock feather brooch, measuring approximately 1.25” in diameter.

Morpho butterfly wing jewelry became especially popular during the Art Deco and mid-20th-century eras. Prized for its extraordinary iridescent blue, the Morpho wing creates its color through microscopic structures that reflect light, causing it to shift from brilliant blue to turquoise and violet as it moves.

This charming example depicts a peacock, using the luminous blue Morpho wing for the bird with natural feather elements creating its magnificent multicolored tail. The miniature scene is protected beneath a clear domed cover and framed by a decorative scalloped silver setting.

The silver is unmarked but has tested positive for silver; exact fineness is unknown.

Condition

Good antique/vintage condition with age-related wear. The clear cover has visible surface scratches/scuffs, particularly near the upper edge. The silver shows patina and surface wear consistent with age. Please review all photographs as they form an important part of the description.
