An elegant and increasingly difficult-to-find antique Sheffield silver plate food dome (meat cover) featuring beautiful late Victorian to Edwardian styling. The domed lid is adorned with dramatic gadrooned fluting, a finely cast scrolling handle, and an engraved heraldic armorial displaying a standing lion within a shield framed by elaborate foliate scrollwork.
Originally intended to keep roasted meats and other dishes warm while being carried from the kitchen to the dining table, today it makes a magnificent statement piece for traditional dining rooms, English country house décor, or Old Money style interiors.
