A fascinating antique photo button that was later converted into a brooch, featuring an old photograph beneath a domed cover and surrounded by ornate openwork metalwork. Multicolor enameled leaves and flowers are interspersed with emerald-green rhinestones and small white cabochon accents, creating a wonderfully detailed frame.
The piece was originally a button and was later converted for wear as a brooch. A newer pin and clasp mechanism has been added to the back as part of the conversion.
Measurements: Approximately 1.25” diameter.
Condition: Antique condition with significant age-related character. The surface covering the photograph has extensive crazing/cracking, clearly visible in the photographs. There is patina, discoloration and wear/loss to portions of the enamel decoration. The brooch clasp on the reverse is a later replacement/addition and is not original to the antique button.
