Beautiful antique French silver gigot holder, designed to grip the end bone of a roast leg of lamb so it can be carved at table without burning your fingers. This elegant carving aid measures approximately 5.25 inches long. The handle has a raised border and a sweet ribbon-and-bow cartouche, left no monogram so it blends easily with any flatware pattern.

At the top, four petal-shaped prongs open to receive the bone, then are tightened with the sliding collar so the roast can be held securely while carving. A tiny key-shaped finial on the collar adds extra charm and makes this a wonderful conversation piece on an Old World dining table.

The piece is marked for French silver and shows gentle age-appropriate wear and patina from over a century of use. Light surface scratches, small marks, and tarnish are present but there are no major dents or repairs seen. The mechanism still moves, the prongs are intact, and it displays beautifully. Please see all photos for close-up details and condition.

A superb accessory for the antique silver collector, for lovers of traditional French table service, or to give an Old Money touch to your next formal dinner. Lovely displayed on a silver tray with carving knives or in a dining room vignette when not in use.
