Antique Hand-Painted Textile Painting on Canvas Young Woman on Swing c. 1900

An enchanting antique hand-painted canvas depicting a young woman standing on a wooden swing beneath flowering branches. Condition
Good antique condition with age-related wear. The canvas is unframed and shows creasing from storage, scattered soiling, discoloration, edge fraying, and areas of paint wear consistent with its age. Styling
A striking decorative piece for an Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Victorian, English country, French country, cottage, or grandmillennial home. Professionally re-stretched or framed, it would become a dramatic focal point.

One additional observation: the subject and composition remind me very strongly of the decorative canvases produced around 1895–1910 for elegant homes, hotels, and theaters. The woman in an Empire-style gown beneath blossoming branches has the feel of artists such as Maxfield Parrish, Abbott Fuller Graves, or the decorative murals of Edwin Austin Abbey, although I am not suggesting this is by any of those artists. It has that same romantic, turn-of-the-century decorative aesthetic feel about it.
