A striking antique brass pedestal tazza or compote featuring an impressive classical design with a raised profile medallion at the center. The portrait is surrounded by an embossed decorative border, giving the piece the appearance of an ancient coin or classical medal.
The shallow circular bowl is elevated on a beautifully fluted pedestal base, while elaborate openwork handles feature scrolling foliate ornament and architectural detailing. The combination of the classical portrait, pedestal form and ornate handles gives this piece a wonderful Neoclassical / Grand Tour aesthetic.
The brass has developed a warm, naturally aged surface with darker areas of patina that beautifully emphasize the relief decoration. An especially handsome piece for a traditional, European-inspired or Old Money interior.

Condition
