A fascinating antique pocket watch chain featuring an attached French World War I commemorative Verdun medal dated 1916. The medal depicts the fortress at Verdun with the date 21 Février 1916 and the patriotic French figure with the inscription “On Ne Passe Pas” (“They Shall Not Pass”), one of the most famous slogans associated with the Battle of Verdun.
