An exceptional Art Nouveau presentation tray crafted by James W. Tufts of Boston, one of America’s finest silver makers of the late 19th and early 20th century. Tufts’ work is renowned for its quadruple silverplate — four times heavier than standard plate — ensuring both beauty and durability.

This tray features Tufts’ richly detailed Morning Glory repoussé design, a naturalistic Art Nouveau floral pattern that symbolized affection and renewal during the era. Adding to its rarity and provenance, the tray bears a fully engraved dedication:

“Mrs. & Mr. H. S. Irwin

from

Skagit Rebekah Lodge No. 82

Aug. 26, 1905”

The Rebekahs were the women’s auxiliary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), founded in 1851. They focused on philanthropy, mutual aid, and community service, and such presentation trays were given as tokens of honor and gratitude to members for their service or milestones.

  • Maker: James W. Tufts, Boston
