Based on the impressed H&C Depose mark and the Bourgeois retailer stamp, your tray almost certainly dates to the late 19th century, ca. 1876–1889, with some scholars allowing the H&C Depose mark into the early 1890s.
Description:
An exceptional antique Haviland & Co. Limoges porcelain tray, dating to the late 19th century. The tray features a rich cobalt blue border with elaborate raised gold gilt foliate decoration and a crowned monogram crest in the center. It measures approximately 14 inches by 9.5 inches by 1.5 inches, with gently scalloped edges highlighted in gold.
The underside is impressed H&C Depose (Haviland & Co., Limoges) and carries the retailer mark for E. Bourgeois, Grand Dépôt, Paris and Marseille, a noted purveyor of fine porcelain and crystal to the French elite.
Condition:
In very good antique condition with light surface wear to the gilding consistent with age. A rare and elegant example of Haviland Limoges, perfect for display or use as a centerpiece tray, and a true testament to Belle Époque French luxury.
