A beautifully preserved antique gold filled lorgnette, elegantly engineered with a folding double lens mechanism and sculptural handle. Designed to hang from a chatelaine or long guard chain, this refined accessory once allowed its wearer to discreetly raise her glasses at the theatre, opera, or social gathering.
The softly curved gold filled casing features a delicate engraved monogram and houses the folding lenses within. With a simple motion, the double lenses extend and lock into place. When closed, the piece returns to its sleek, sculptural form.
A quintessential Victorian accessory — equal parts function and ornament — and a wonderful addition to any antique jewelry or chatelaine collection.
